The Opera Venue: Merrill Auditorium

A beautifully restored 1,900 seat performance venue, this majestic hall is one of the gems of Portland’s downtown Arts District and home to many fine performances throughout the year. Directions to Merrill Auditorium:

The Opera Maine summer mainstage performances are held in Portland, Maine at Merrill Auditorium, which is inside Portland’s City Hall.

From I295: Take EXIT 7 (Franklin Street.) On Franklin Street, go to the 4th traffic light and turn RIGHT on to Congress Street. Parking is available for a nominal fee at “Top of the Old Port” Parking. (This will be on your right.) Merrill Auditorium/City Hall is one block from the parking lot. The entrance to Merrill Auditorium is about ¼ the way down Myrtle Street, on the left side of the street.

From Northern New Hampshire and Western Maine: Take Route 302 into Portland. Once in Portland, Route 302 turns into Forest Avenue. Continue on Forest Avenue until it ends at the intersection with Congress Street. Take a LEFT onto Congress Street and continue until you see City Hall on the left side of the street. Take a LEFT onto Myrtle Street. The entrance to Merrill Auditorium is about ¼ the way down Myrtle Street, on the left side of the street.

Parking

Parking across from Merrill Auditorium is available for a nominal fee at “Central Parking Services” on the corner of Congress and Pearl Streets (this lot offers some accessible parking spaces) and at the “Top of the Old Port” on Pearl Street (off of Congress)
